After a disappointing 2014 FIFA World Cup, legendary Spanish midfielder Xavi has retired from
the national team.
The Barcelona midfielder amassed 133 caps in a glittering career for La Furia Roja, and he was a
key part of their impressive title runs from 2008 to 2012, where they won 2 European Championships
and 1 World Cup.
Xavi had a disappointing 2013-14 season, when Barca failed to win major silverware for the first
time in six years and holders Spain were knocked out of the World Cup in the group stage.
