Sudanese Meriam Ibrahim, Sentenced To Death For Converting To Christianity, Has Been Freed
Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman who was sentenced to death last
month for converting from Islam to Christianity has been freed.
27-year old Meriam gathered international attention following the original judgement, as she was locked up and had to give birth in prison.
‘The appeal court ordered the release of Mariam Yahya and the cancellation of the (previous) court ruling,’ Sudan’s SUNA news agency said. The couple’s 20-month-old son was also held in prison with Ms Ibrahim and her newborn daughter.
After international pressure a government official said on May 31 that Sudanese officials were working to release her.
She was only finally freed this afternoon.
Ms Ibrahim’s lawyer Mohaned Mostafa said after her release she had been sent ‘to an unknown house to stay at for her protection and security.’
‘Her family had been threatened before and we are worried that someone might try to harm her,’ he said.

“Mikel Obi not good Enough” – Arsenal and Manchester United legends claim Chelsea ruined Mikel’s Career
Martin Keown has repeated views that Chelsea have hampered the development of John Obi Mikel
Nigeria got their World Cup off the ground on Saturday night, racking up a first win of the tournament over Bosnia.
Ahead of that game, BBC pundits Martin Keown and Phil Neville gave their assessment of Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel, a long standing fixture in the Chelsea squad.
And Keown in particular was less than complimentary about the midfielder’s progress.
“They feel in Nigeria that actually Chelsea have ruined him. He was a top talent as a 17-year-old.
“He was a really top player and was creative. I feel he wants to go and do something but he doesn’t have the pace really to make the difference in the final third.”
Asked to elaborate, Keown responded, insinuating that actually Mikel’s lack of speed is the real issue hampering his development rather than anything Chelsea have done:
“In the world tournament he played in at under-17 level, Messi was the player of the tournament, he was the second best player, he was that good.
“He hasn’t really trained on and kicked on and for me it’s a lack of pace that he simply doesn’t have.”
Co-pundit, and former Manchester United and Everton man Phil Neville was also critical of Mikel.
“He’s got such a big physical attribute, he should really be running forward almost Vieira-like.
“He takes touches on the ball, he slows things down, he doesn’t use that physicality he should be using.”
Mikel was touted as the sort of player who could make an impact creatively upon joining Chelsea, but ever since his arrival he became clear he was more useful to the Blues as a holding midfielder.
His usefulness to the club however diminished somewhat last season, the 27-year-old only making 11 Premier League starts, and has been linked with a summer exit.
Do you agree a lack of pace is what hampers John Obi Mikel? Will he stay at Chelsea?

GAME OVER BETWEEN KEYSHIA COLE AND DANIEL GIBSON
Sources close to the R&B singer, who wed the baller in May 2011, confirm that she has concluded drawing paper and plans to file them any day now.
Keyshia Cole is officially ending her three year-marriage to NBA player Daniel "Boobie" Gibson, three months after she and her husband separated.
In March, Keyshia Cole told Power 105.1 that "we just had so much of a great relationship, I felt that it would be possible" to split amicably and co-parent.
Noting that she'd never keep her child from Boobie, she added, “No matter how much I dislike this man, it’ll never be to a point where he can’t see his son, period.”
Moving words if ever such things have been spoken.
Interestingly, Cole just released a new single called "She" which seems to allude to a female lover: "Down to try something different / Lips and legs/ Soft skin so feminine / Curves like me / Covered in my cherry scent."

SAD: SEE THE FACES OF ABDUCTED CHIBOK GIRLS
Should anything go wrong then these faces are bound to haunt us forever
It was with tears in his eyes, the leader of the community council in Chibok, the town from which the girls were abducted, flicked through a file in which he'd recorded the names and photographs of the girls, writes GORDON BROWN. Not even the police and Army have managed to compile such detail he has amassed from talking to the parents of the kidnapped teenagers.
The file has 185 pages - one for every girl. Each page has a photograph, and beside each passport-sized picture some stark facts - the girl's name, her school grade and the date of abduction. For the other 19 abducted girls, he has yet to locate photographs.
It is in the spirit of oneness that we pray the girls are returned safely to re-unite with their families.

If You’re In Your Twenties, Read This Before You Turn Thirty
I’ll tell you a painful fact, and this is the truth.
Some of us are dreamers.
We
like to think we have goals, but we have mere dreams (or daydreams). We
spend time elaborately describing the future we want—to ourselves and
to others—and are so captured by this future that we take no meaningful
action in the present.
And so that future never comes. And we feel frustrated.
Why?
Many
of us have listened to motivational speeches and read motivational
books that say: Create a goal, focus on the goal and work towards it. We
passionately write down our incredible goals and begin to think about
them dreamily every day.
People
around us can see that we are not working towards this goal, but we
keep talking and talking and talking about this goal. In the end we
achieve nothing.
Still don’t get it? Here’s an example:
Profile of a Dreamer
A
dreamer attends a motivational program/seminar/sermon or reads a
motivational book and gets fired up to create a change in his life. He
decides that he wants to become the next Dangote. He writes this goal
down, “I want to become the next Dangote”, and probably pastes it somewhere he can see every day, so he can keep his focus.
He’s
passionate about his goal and can’t wait to speak to others about it.
He tells his significant other about his brand new goal, and she is
excited and wants to support him. Everything seems bright and ready to
go.
But one week later, he is still talking.
Two weeks later, he is still talking.
Four weeks later, he is still just talking.
Six
weeks later, he gets frustrated that he has made no progress and
believes that he needs a better motivational book, because the previous
one—according to him—does not work.
He gets a new book or seminar, and the same thing happens again.
And this cycle continues.
Until he becomes depressed, and says the speakers are frauds who lie to get money from people.
What Mistake Did He make?
The
motivational speeches/books are not the problem, but they are
definitely not the solution. Motivational speakers are like traffic
wardens—they show the way, but they can’t take you to your destination.
That part is your responsibility.
The main summary of everything a motivational speaker will tell you to do in order to succeed is:
- Create a goal and write it down
- Work towards your goal with passion
- Keep being focused on your goal until you achieve it
This is entirely correct. But, there’s a problem.
Many
of us do the creating a goal part—it’s not that hard. We are also very
passionate about our goals. But many of us forget the most important
thing.
Strategic Work
When it comes down to the nuts and bolts of achieving anything at all, strategic work is the path that leads there.
Let me illustrate:
When
you first want to achieve a goal, we can say that you are at A and you
want to get to Z. But to get to Z, you must first go through B, then C,
then D, then E, until you get to Z. This is plain logic. This means that
from A, you first focus on how you’re going to get to B. When you reach
B, then you can begin thinking about C.
But
for many people, who are truly passionate about their goals, they are
at A and they focus almost entirely on Z. This doesn’t make sense.
Let’s say you want to get to work early. Do you first focus on getting to work early? No.
- You first focus on waking up early.
- Then you focus on bathing and brushing in the shortest possible time.
- Then you focus on eating your breakfast as fast as humanly possible.
- Then you focus on getting to the bus stop and getting on the first bus you see.
After you have done all this, then you can get to work on time—but only after.
This is the only practically possible way to achieve any goal.
How Can You Apply This
First, tell yourself the truth. Have you been working strategically towards your goal, or have you been dreaming about it?
Think about this for 15 seconds.
No, really think about it.
Understand
that the only way we can change anything in our lives is by first
telling ourselves the truth. Do this before reading any further.
Second,
think through your goal. Who are your role models that have achieved
this goal already? What process did they take to get there? You need
this in detail. Take the time to get this information for at least 3 or 4
people.
Third,
get a piece of paper, a book or an excel sheet. If you did the second
step in detail, you will notice a pattern in the success paths of the 3
or 4 people you studied. Use this pattern to construct a plan that can
get you to your goal. Your plan should be good, but not necessarily
perfect—you’ll modify it as you go along.
Fourth,
get to work ASAP. This is the point where more than 50% of people
mentally stop. The goal, the passion and the planning are so
romantic—but the work isn’t. Work does two major things: 1) The more you
work on your craft, the better you get at it, and 2) It is the only
thing that moves you towards your goal. Sitting and thinking makes you a
poor philosopher.
