Official: Van Gaal named as new Manchester United manager
The Dutchman will begin a three-year contract at
Old Trafford after Netherlands' participation at World
Cup 2014 is complete, with Ryan Giggs appointed as
his assistant
Louis van Gaal has been confirmed as the new
manager of Manchester United , with Ryan Giggs
named his assistant.
The Dutchman will begin a three-year contract at
Old Trafford after the conclusion of his work in
charge of Netherlands at the World Cup.
Frans Hoek and Marcel Bout, countrymen of Van
Gaal, also arrive at Old Trafford as coaches, with
the former specialising in goalkeeping and the latter
in scouting the opposition.
As reported by Goal, Van Gaal told friends that he
was "very keen" on taking over at United following
the sacking of David Moyes in April.
The Dutchman agreed a deal in principle with the
club on April 26 but an official announcement was
delayed to work around his commitments with the
Dutch national team .
"To work as a manager for Manchester United, the
biggest club in the world, makes me very proud,"
Van Gaal said.
"This club has big ambitions; I too have big
ambitions. Together I'm sure we will make history."
"In Louis van Gaal, we have secured the services of
one of the outstanding managers in the game
today," United's chief executive, Ed Woodward, said
in a statement.
"He has achieved many things in his career to date
and Old Trafford provides him with a fitting stage on
which to write new chapters in the Manchester
United story.
"Everyone is very excited about this new phase in
the club's history. His track record of success in
winning leagues and cups across Europe throughout
his career makes him the perfect choice for us."
The appointment of Giggs as Van Gaal's No.2 fits
the incoming manager's desire for an ally on the
coaching staff who knows the club well, as
explained by Goal earlier in May.
Patrick Kliuvert had been expected to follow Van
Gaal to England, but it was decided earlier in May
that the former Barcelona striker would not make
the move to Old Trafford .
"I am thrilled to have the chance to serve as
assistant manager," the Welshman enthused.
"Louis van Gaal is a world-class coach and I know
I will learn a lot about coaching from being able to
observe and contribute at such close quarters.
"Manchester United has been a huge part of my life
and I'm delighted to be able to continue that
relationship in such a key role."

Phone Rihanna Accidentally Broke At Clippers Game Sells For $65,000 On eBay
Ri-Ri may have figured out the only way to make a
cracked iPhone screen is to add value to the
phone.
The pop singer, 26, was seated next to Los
Angeles Police Commission president Steve
Soboroff at a Clippers game last week. Noticing
that they were both wearing LAPD wristbands,
Soboroff asked her to pose with him in a picture.
While attempting to take the selfie, Rihanna
accidentally dropped the phone, cracking the
screen. But Soboroff got more than a celebrity
photo and a broken phone out of the deal. On
Thursday, an anonymous bidder paid $66,500 to
buy the phone in question on eBay.
“Half of the money raised will go toward the LAPD
Cadet program crisis,” Soboroff wrote on his
auction listing. “The other half of the money will go
towards the Los Angeles Police Memorial
Foundation, to support the families of fallen
officers. We have tragically lost five officers since
March 7, 2014.”
“Thank you Rihanna and all of her wonderful fans
who have made this story go viral, and for your
interest in supporting the Los Angeles Police
Foundation,” he continued.
Rihanna, who apologized and donated $25,000 to a
police charity after the incident, also signed the
phone: “Sorry! I (heart) LAPD. Rihanna.”

‘Why I’m Still Single’ – Genevieve Nnaji
Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji, revealed in a
recent interview with that she is still single
because she is afraid of divorce and she has the
desire to stay married for long.
Genevieve explained that she was born and raised
Catholic and she doesn’t believe in divorce.
“If I get married, I really want to stay married and
staying married is not an easy thing. It means you
are completely in tune with your partner. It means
you have found your soul mate because you will
have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments
that would definitely come but then again you have
to learn to forgive,” she said.
According to her, before she decides to walk down
the aisle with any man, she’d have to ask herself
if he is the kind of man she’d be willing to forgive
when the time comes and if her answer to that
question is no, he is not the right man for her.
“If you know you can look into someone’s eyes
and say yes, this is the most you can do to me. If
you actually cheat on me the first time, I can find
it in my heart to forgive you. If you can answer
that question honestly and truthfully to yourself,
then you will know if that person is your partner or
not,” she added.
She explained that it is every woman’s dream to
get married but the problem is finding someone
you are compatible with, adding that she’s had
opportunities to get married but she realised
getting married is not the problem but
compatibility.
The mother of one said she wants to get married
but it has be with someone she’s compatible with.
She said, “So compatibilty is the word, aside from
the physical attributes that have to go with it. I
need to be comfortable because I am a woman
and I’m used to certain lifestyle.”

Arsenal comeback ends trophy drought
Arsenal are the FA Cup winners and that horrible
statistic of no trophy since 2005 has finally been
put to rest after this Wembley thriller.
The expectation of the Gunners supporters was
evident as they piled up Olympic Way and the
atmosphere at kick-off was as loud as this
stadium has witnessed since being rebuilt.
This Arsenal side, and in particular Arsene
Wenger, have answered some huge questions
today, not least about the strength of their
character.
They had to do it the hard way after falling two
behind to early goals from James Chester and
Curtis Davies - but Arsenal controlled most of the
game and deserved to win.
A brilliant Santi Cazorla free-kick and a Laurent
Koscielny close-range strike made sure the game
went to extra-time and after waiting for nine
years, what did another half-an-hour matter.
Hull worked relentlessly but Arsenal made their
quality count in extra-time, particularly Aaron
Ramsey. The Welshman continually bombed
forward and finally found the winner with a sharp
low finish to send 30,000 or so Gunners fans wild.
Late Ramsey winner seals FA Cup
The Welshman stepped up to the plate in the second
half of extra-time, tucking home Olivier Giroud's pass
to complete a memorable cup final comeback for the
Gunners.
Arsenal ended their nine-
year trophy drought thanks
to Aaron Ramsey's extra-
time winner as the Gunners
came from 2-0 down to
defeat Hull and win the FA Cup.
The Welshman prodded home a backheel from Olivier
Giroud in the second period of extra-time to condemn
Steve Bruce's side to a 3-2 loss at Wembley.

The greatest underdog wins - Atletico Madrid win La Liga
Diego Simeone's saw Diego Costa and Arda Turan
withdrawn through injury but bravely hit back to seal a
1-1 draw in their title decider at Barcelona on
Saturday evening
Atletico Madrid have been
crowned champions of La
Liga following a dramatic
draw in the final fixture
against Barcelona at Camp
Nou on Saturday.
Barcelona needed a win to claim the title, while a
draw was enough for Atletico as Diego Simeone's
side went into the game with a three-point lead over
Gerardo Martino's men.
Atleti were hit with a double blow early on as first
Diego Costa and then Arda Turan limped off with
injuries, but the Rojiblancos continued to compete in
an evenly disputed first half.
But almost out of nothing, Alexis Sanchez blasted
Barca into the lead with a fierce angled drive after 33
minutes.
Atletico started the second half with a bang, however,
and after David Villa had hit the post, Diego Godin
headed home from a corner to make it 1-1 after 49
minutes.
Lionel Messi had the ball in the net later in the half,
but the Argentine's strike was correctly ruled out for
offside and Atletico held on to claim La Liga by a
three-point margin - their first title since 1996.

President Jonathan Cancels Trip To Chibok
According to Reuters, President Goodluck
Jonathan has cancelled his first visit to Chibok, the
village from which more than 200 schoolgirls were
abducted by Islamist rebel group Boko Haram a
month ago due to security fears, senior
government sources said on Friday.
Jonathan will instead fly directly from the capital
Abuja to Paris on Friday for a regional summit to
discuss the Boko Haram insurgency and wider
insecurity and will not now make a stop in the
northeastern village of Chibok, said one of the
sources.
“The president was planning to go but security
advised otherwise on the visit,” said the source of
the last-minute decision to cancel the Chibok part
of the trip.
Jonathan asked France last week to arrange a
security summit with neighbors Chad, Cameroon,
Niger and Benin, and officials from the United
States, Britain and the European Union to discuss
a coordinated response. The summit will take
place on Saturday.

Going International: Boko Haram Kill 7 In Cameroon
7 people were reportedly killed when Boko Haram
insurgents clashed against military forces in
Northern Cameroon.
“Boko Haram killed a (Cameroonian) soldier. Our
soldiers killed six of their guys” and “captured”
two others near the Nigerian border, the source
told AFP on Monday, requesting anonymity.
A local Cameroonian NGO confirmed the assault
and said there were “victims” without specifying
the number. “On Sunday, Boko Haram Islamists
entered Cameroon… there was a clash between
them and the soldiers,” said Mey Aly, from rights
group Os-Civil Droits de l’Homme. “Around 30
heavily armed Boko Haram soldiers crept
discretely into Cameroon.
A villager saw them and raised the alarm,” she
added. Soldiers blocked their path and a firefight
broke out. Cameroon’s rapid reaction force sped
to the area.
“The region’s populations have been terrorised by
incursions from Islamists like Sunday’s. We call
on stronger efforts from the authorities to
reassure the population,” she added.
Earlier Monday, an official said that suspected
Islamist insurgents had killed 29 people in
Nigeria’s embattled northeast on Sunday, the
latest carnage in a surge of violence that has left
more than 100 dead this month alone.
The Nigerian military has launched a major
offensive aimed at crushing the Islamist uprising,
which has killed thousands since 2009.
On Wednesday, Nigeria’s Information Minister
Labaran Maku said that much of his country’s
problem with Boko Haram stemmed from its
border with Cameroon and called for “increased
partnership” from its northern neighbour.
Nigeria has alleged that the Islamists have set up
bases in sparsely populated areas of its
northeastern neighbours, including Cameroon,
Chad and Niger, and flee across the border after
staging attacks to avoid military pursuit.
“They strike. When we pursue them, they retreat
into Cameroon,” complained the minister.

Civilians Kill 200 Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno Attack Yesterday
The rise of the civilians against terror took the
Boko Haram saga to a new turn in the early
hours of Tuesday morning when citizens of
Rann, headquarters of Kala-Balge local
government area, Borno northeast, who had
fore-knowledge of an impending Boko Haram
attack, decided not to remain sitting ducks but
prepared for battle.
According to reports we received from Civilian
sources in Borno, over 400 Boko Haram
terrorists stormed Rann and neighboring
villages in the early hours of Tuesday, with their
usual convoy of hilux trucks, motorcycles and
APC (Armored Personnel Carriers) only to meet
villagers ready for them this time. The civilian
villagers pounced on the terrorists with mere
rocks, bows and arrows, local Dane guns,
swords and “charms,” but as we have earlier
reported, Boko Haram are more frightened of
Civilian-JTF than they are of the Nigerian army,
and run from the civilians even if they – the
civilians only have knives
The battle raged till the sun came up and ended
with the civilians killing over 200 Boko Haram
terrorists, capturing several prisoners and
recovering several of their vehicles.
From an account of a civilian who participated in
defending the neighborhoods, as reported in
DailyTrust, “Our people also recovered over 70
motorcycles that the attackers came with. They
also collected 2 Hilux vehicles and an Armoured
Personnel Carrier (APC) while some of the
attackers were captured alive.” [Daily Trust ]
This amazing victory of good over evil, promises a
new direction in the war against terror that has
wrecked hundreds of farming villages in the north
of Nigeria in the last four years, largely unchecked
by State security. Civilians determined to arrest a
situation they believe the Nigerian security
services has permitted to destroy their farming
villages in various towns in the north east, have
apparently decided take up a fighting posture
against Boko Haram terrorists; no longer waiting
for a military response that hardly ever comes.
Last week, Boko Haram terrorists ravaged
Gondura Ngala town, freely without any hindrance
from the Nigerian military drafted to the north, and
decimated the entire town, killing over 300
residents. On April 14 th, Boko Haram stormed
Chibok and abducted over 200 girls. In that
episode, Amnesty International reported that the
Nigerian security services were fully informed of
the impending attack, by civilian vigilantes and
other Intel, several hours prior, yet did not alert or
defend the village nor engage the terrorists for a
full eight hours of the abduction, looting and
destruction of the village.
A mother from Chibok reportedly told CNN, that “if
the army is not ready to fight Boko Haram, then
we will fight them ourselves.” Apparently that day
has come.
The Civilian-JTF and ENDS.ng civil rights group is
pressing the Nigerian government for the civilians
to have the right and government support, to bear
arms, to end the terror scourge once and for all.
The government is yet to officially respond to this
urgent request as villagers remain at the mercy of
Boko Haram terrorists.
The Shehu of Bama is reported to have ordered his
citizens to go get guns, after his town was
completely decimated twice by Boko Haram
terrorists with no military response for the full
eight hours of carnage. More towns are expected
to follow suit as the nations leadership sleeps and
permits terrorists the largely unhindered freedom
to operate, massacre and destroy Nigeria’s
farmers and northern farming villages.
Boko Haram saga to a new turn in the early
hours of Tuesday morning when citizens of
Rann, headquarters of Kala-Balge local
government area, Borno northeast, who had
fore-knowledge of an impending Boko Haram
attack, decided not to remain sitting ducks but
prepared for battle.
According to reports we received from Civilian
sources in Borno, over 400 Boko Haram
terrorists stormed Rann and neighboring
villages in the early hours of Tuesday, with their
usual convoy of hilux trucks, motorcycles and
APC (Armored Personnel Carriers) only to meet
villagers ready for them this time. The civilian
villagers pounced on the terrorists with mere
rocks, bows and arrows, local Dane guns,
swords and “charms,” but as we have earlier
reported, Boko Haram are more frightened of
Civilian-JTF than they are of the Nigerian army,
and run from the civilians even if they – the
civilians only have knives
The battle raged till the sun came up and ended
with the civilians killing over 200 Boko Haram
terrorists, capturing several prisoners and
recovering several of their vehicles.
From an account of a civilian who participated in
defending the neighborhoods, as reported in
DailyTrust, “Our people also recovered over 70
motorcycles that the attackers came with. They
also collected 2 Hilux vehicles and an Armoured
Personnel Carrier (APC) while some of the
attackers were captured alive.” [Daily Trust ]
This amazing victory of good over evil, promises a
new direction in the war against terror that has
wrecked hundreds of farming villages in the north
of Nigeria in the last four years, largely unchecked
by State security. Civilians determined to arrest a
situation they believe the Nigerian security
services has permitted to destroy their farming
villages in various towns in the north east, have
apparently decided take up a fighting posture
against Boko Haram terrorists; no longer waiting
for a military response that hardly ever comes.
Last week, Boko Haram terrorists ravaged
Gondura Ngala town, freely without any hindrance
from the Nigerian military drafted to the north, and
decimated the entire town, killing over 300
residents. On April 14 th, Boko Haram stormed
Chibok and abducted over 200 girls. In that
episode, Amnesty International reported that the
Nigerian security services were fully informed of
the impending attack, by civilian vigilantes and
other Intel, several hours prior, yet did not alert or
defend the village nor engage the terrorists for a
full eight hours of the abduction, looting and
destruction of the village.
A mother from Chibok reportedly told CNN, that “if
the army is not ready to fight Boko Haram, then
we will fight them ourselves.” Apparently that day
has come.

Polytechnic workers suspend seven months strike.
The Nasarawa State Polytechnic chapter of Non
Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (NASUP), on
Wednesday suspended its seven months-old-
strike.
The Chairman of the union, Mr David Ayitono-
Goshi announced the suspension in Lafia while
briefing journalists on the outcome of the meeting
they had with the management of the polytechnic.
Ayitono-Goshi said that the suspension followed
the intervention of respected personalities who
pledged to pursue the union’s grievances to the
appropriate authorities.
“We have been on strike for seven months now,
but when the new members of the governing
council came on board, they requested that we
should appeal to the national headquarters of the
union to suspend the strike.
“They also assured that they will continue with the
negotiation from where it stopped,” he said.
The chairman said that the suspension was
“conditional”, as the union would resume its strike
if the state government fails to address the issues
within six month.
He directed all members of the union to resume
work immediately.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that
already some members of the members have
complied with the directive, as they were seen in
their places of work. (NAN)

Lot of celebrities, entertainers, world powers joined in One voice to
support the #BringBackOurGirls campaign using different approaches. All
the approaches used by people around the world doesn’t seem to appeal
To the current World Footballer of the year Cristiano Ronaldo’s super
model girlfriend, Irina Shayk as she takes a totally different route.
Irina Shayk headed over to instagram to share a picture of herself topless with a #BringBackOurGirls Card. The Post on her page has caused a stir of some sort and received a lot of reactions.
See some of the comments below:
“Nigeria terrorist group boko Horam kidnapped 278 girls at once. Irina is trying to get attention for this with the #bringourgirlsback”
“Pretty tasteless and disrespectful. No class. This is exactly the justification terrorists are probably using to prevent women from receiving ‘western education’.”
“Super models are dumb.”
