Ri-Ri may have figured out the only way to make a
cracked iPhone screen is to add value to the
phone.
The pop singer, 26, was seated next to Los
Angeles Police Commission president Steve
Soboroff at a Clippers game last week. Noticing
that they were both wearing LAPD wristbands,
Soboroff asked her to pose with him in a picture.
While attempting to take the selfie, Rihanna
accidentally dropped the phone, cracking the
screen. But Soboroff got more than a celebrity
photo and a broken phone out of the deal. On
Thursday, an anonymous bidder paid $66,500 to
buy the phone in question on eBay.
“Half of the money raised will go toward the LAPD
Cadet program crisis,” Soboroff wrote on his
auction listing. “The other half of the money will go
towards the Los Angeles Police Memorial
Foundation, to support the families of fallen
officers. We have tragically lost five officers since
March 7, 2014.”
“Thank you Rihanna and all of her wonderful fans
who have made this story go viral, and for your
interest in supporting the Los Angeles Police
Foundation,” he continued.
Rihanna, who apologized and donated $25,000 to a
police charity after the incident, also signed the
phone: “Sorry! I (heart) LAPD. Rihanna.”
